One of the most noticeable symptoms of an underactive thyroid gland is eating less, sometimes much less, and still gaining weight. However, there are other symptoms that go along with it, that would reinforce that diagnosis. Remember the thyroid controls the speed of the whole metabolism, so if it underactive everything is slowing down.
It will cause fatigue that is not relieved by sleep, it will cause slower thinking processes. So a problem which would have been previously easy to solve, becomes unaccountably difficult to think through. Oddly, losing the outer third of the eyebrows almost always happens, and often hairloss generally, over head and body, so you may be moulting an unusual amount when hairwashing or brushing. Your doctor can do a simple blood test for you, if you suspect this is the case.
