Coffee is an acid drink, so if you drink to excess your body has to neutralise it. It can and will do this by removing calcium from your bones, not an ideal situation. You can get rid of the acidity by putting a pinch of soda-bicarb in your coffee, which is not noticeable in taste, and will help considerably.
The other downside is that being a dark brown colour, eventually coffee (and tea) will stain your teeth brown. Older people’s teeth get darker with age, not because they’re older, but because they’ve been exposed to the staining for many more years than young people. (Source of this latter info, my dentist)
- Thanks Jessica, great info. I’ve recently heard about ‘healthy coffee’ do you know anything about that?
