Coconut oil is good for you regardless of how you consume it. It is a medium chain triglyeride or MCT oil, and goes directly to the liver via the portal vein to be used as energy straight away. The body treats it in a different way to long chain or saturated fats. You can take it in capsules if you don’t want it in your drinks, you can cook with it, or you can eat coconuts. Do make sure that it is cold pressed and unrefined, as that is by far the healthiest and most natural form.
It is a ketogenic source of energy, and has even been used to help with some forms of epilepsy, under specialist supervision, when the usual medications have failed to help. It is good for the circulatory system too, and in areas of the world where coconuts are one of the staple food stuffs, they have very low rates of heart disease.
